Deering details hardy Missouri minnow as prime bait source
Thomas E. Deering notes the Missouri Caesa minnow, hardy and lasting weeks in adverse conditions, is a crossed species of salmon with no carp or goldfish lineage. Goldfish Hatchery data show 1 to 1.5 inch fish yield higher profits, prompting a shift from pet fish to bait production. More minnows will travel 1300 miles to Florida winter camps, with 175,000 in the first batch heading to 643 camps.
