Mayoral and council candidates debate Mount Dora issues

Mount Dora voters heard 10 candidates discuss growth funding and planning at a public forum hosted by the Concerned Citizens Association. Bob Pearson urged controlled growth and local funding, while incumbent Mayor Tom Champion opposed tax hikes and favored public budget access and municipal self sufficiency.

Accidents injure four on Mount Dora streets

Four people were injured in two Mount Dora accidents last week. In the first, a 1964 convertible carrying Thomas Wayne Brumley and Christopher Lee Brumley collided with a 1970 sedan driven by Paul T. Ault at Fifth Ave and Grandview St. Minor damage was reported to both cars. Brumley children treated and released. Mrs Brumley was charged with violating the right of way. In the second, a 1967 sedan struck a parked car at 2087 Overlook Drive injuring Janna E. Andrews and her parents John C and Nancy Ann Andrews. all four treated at Waterman Memorial Hospital and released. Andrews charged with careless driving.
