Cyclists Join 110 Strong For Florida Free Wheelers Tour
About 110 members of the Florida Free Wheelers bicycle club from central Florida gathered in Mount Dora for their second annual Half Century and Century Bike Tour. The ride began at 7 a.m. at Gilbert Park, extended to the Ocala National Forest edge, and returned. Riders earned patches for completing 50 miles within six hours or 100 miles within 12. Participants included Elliott and Pearl Bogut, Don Mason, Don Stall, George Beebe, Henry Platt, Anne Bower, and Frank Kennedy. The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event, which is part of the League of American Wheelers network.

City OKs millage and ballot in Mount Dora election

Five candidates qualified by Monday for three Mount Dora City Council seats on the ballot December 10. Incumbents Howard Cox Gordon Dake and C O Lott joined by Dean Van Landingham and Dr Robert Wason. Council terms two years with certified filings reported by City Clerk Carl Fowler. Cox first elected 1970 re elected 1972. Dake on council since 1959 except one year and is current president.

Mrs. Elinore Bronson Dies Noted Mount Dora Civic Leader
Mrs. Elinore Wilson Bronson, co founder of Bronson's Book and Gift Shop in Mount Dora, died Friday after a brief illness in Waterman Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Rehbaum Harden Chapel with Rev. Walter B. Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery Pensacola. The Bronson couple moved to Mount Dora in 1952 after Col. R. Paul Bronson's VA career. They started Bronson's Book House in 1953 and later opened stores in Eustis and Leesburg. They also created Guys and Dolls and The Peacock Room, notable gift shops statewide.
