Theresa Henns daughter of Dr and Mrs Robert J Henns of Sorrento was crowned Homecoming Queen at Mount Dora High School. Mount Dora Hurricanes defeated Groveland 33 to 6 in the Homecoming game on Friday night at the football field. See Page 6 for details.
City Council accepts petition to place on the December ballot a proposed charter amendment for appointing a city manager. 325 of 380 signatures were certified as registered electors, representing 15-20 percent of Mount Dora's voters. The measure, if approved, would define the manager's duties, compensation, removal and tenure.
Mount Dora gains a $40,000 CETA grant via the federal program to hire unemployed workers through the state system. The city will fund a dispatcher and seek a patrolman and another dispatcher, with one patrolman possibly becoming an investigator. Additional ads include a tree surgeon and a laborer for public works. Funds run to June 30, 1975, with possible continuation.
