GOP Sweeps Mount Dora as Republicans win big

In Mount Dora and surrounding areas, Republicans won a sweeping victory with only three precincts voting for a Democrat in one race. Bud Dickinson carried precincts 5 18 and 31 for State Comptroller but trailed in total votes. Governor Claude Kirk led statewide results locally, while Amiss? still shows broad GOP dominance as all seven constitutional amendments were rejected and the school bond proposal failed by about 3 to 1.

Mount Dora Receives New Water Patrol Rescue Boat

The City of Mount Dora unveiled a new 18 foot Orlando Clipper rescue boat with a 105 hp Chrysler motor donated by First National Bank and Mount Dora Marina. The craft will be kept in the Mount Dora Marina for immediate use by the Fire Department and features ship to shore radio and oxygen equipment.
