Mount Dora Post 35 American Legion will sponsor Memorial Day services at Mount Dora Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. State Rep. Leighton Baker is the principal speaker. A Sunday memorial church service follows at First Methodist Church with a 10 45 a.m. gathering. Legionnaires will decorate graves with flags and invite residents and visiting members to participate.

The Mount Dora Jaycees sponsor a second oral polio vaccine feeding Sunday June 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Community Building East Town Building and Shopping Center. Those who had the first dose April 19 will receive a booster June 14. 50 cent donation requested per dose.

Summer Recreation Program Slated To Start June 15
The 1964 Mount Dora Summer Recreation Program, a joint effort of Lake County Board of Public Instruction Mount Dora High School Roseborough Elementary School and the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce with civic groups, runs June 15 to July 26. It offers instrumental music swimming instruction recreational swimming gymnastics AAU swimming arts and crafts Little League Babe Ruth baseball Red Cross life saving classes and quiet games. Swimming instruction is at Mount Dora Municipal Pool 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Enrollment June 15 9 a.m. to noon. Pool passes cost 1 with no swimming instruction charge. Registration for swimming and other activities occurs at pool and high school on June 15.

New FHP Station Slated In County Soon
W H Bill Reedy Florida Telephone Corp public relations director and Democratic nominee for state representative for Lake County says plans for the Lake County Highway Patrol Station were completed May 19. Bids will be advertised and awarded within six weeks. The $60,000 station, north of the All State Truck Stop Fruitland Park on US 441 and 27, will create about five jobs and link Lake and Sumter counties to the statewide patrol network.
