Don McLaurin to deliver LSCC trumpet recital
Lake Sumter Community College music instructor Don McLaurin will present a public trumpet recital at 8 p.m. on Monday May 23 in the Fine Arts Center auditorium. He will perform solo works for piccolo and E flat trumpets along with standard B flat pieces, assisted by organist Thomas DeWitt and pianist Joan Owen. John Rata will join on trumpet for the two trumpet concerto. The program includes Haydn Trumpet Concerto and The Hollow Men by Vincent Persichetti.

Waterman Hospital Auxiliary reports strong year of service
Waterman Hospital Auxiliary closes a successful year with 300 active volunteers. Female associates outnumber male volunteers ten to one, supporting hospital operations. New services include Radiology assistance, desk help between Surgery and ICU, and business office filing. Fundraisers include Pink Elephant Shop Gift Shop Coffee Shop and Rental Service. Donations total 65000 for the year, over 500000 lifetime, with 748884 hours volunteered. Florida delegates Laura Woodruff and Marie Johnson attended the state annual meeting.
