Memory Trip Echoes of Tremain Family Legacy in Mount Dora
Louis Tremain recalls a 1878 journey from Jacksonville to Pendryville with his ailing mother and siblings. The account traces his father R. C. Tremain’s early work in Mount Dora, including postmaster duties, founding a school, establishing worship, orange groves, a packing house, and surviving the 1895 freeze. Louis later ran the Tremain real estate firm for 37 years and plans a reflective trip to Jacksonville in 1948.
