A kitchen shower was given for June bride elect Miss Marguerite Heinze at the Heinze home on Lake Gertrude. The house was decorated with floral arrangements by Mrs. Paul Ashbaugh. Gifts were opened by Miss Heinze and a tea served with Mrs. A Paul Heinze presiding at the punch bowl. Guests included Miss Marilyn Auld and Miss Peggy Granath, sorority sisters at Florida Southern College where Miss Heinze pursues musical studies.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce announces road construction on Road 445 from Astor Park past Alexander Springs to State Road 19. Bids were opened in Tampa and the project will be financed by the Federal Bureau of Public Roads and USDA Forest Service matching Lake County funds. The new road will follow the old route with eased curves.

Dora Singers Shine At Florida Folk Festival
Mount Dora's 20 member Glee club, the only Central Florida group aside from UF, earned high praise at the Florida Folk Festival. Dora Juniors Take Exams For Merit Scholarships
Twenty one Dora Junior-students participated in the National Merit Scholarship qualifying test. The program awards about 15 million dollars in scholarships over four years. Semifinalists are drawn from top scorers in each state with results announced in the Fall. Dora Wheeler McDonald was previously selected to advance in the process.

George Detten and Clayton Detten Jr. announced the birth of twins to Mrs Clarence Cheney in Alton Illinois. The boy weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and the girl 6 pounds 13 ounces, born April 26. Five Mount Dora girls were named winners of an all expense trip to the State 4 H Short Course at Florida State University June 8 13 announced at the county 4 H Achievement Day in Tavares. Recipients Beverly Phillips Leslie Keller Dorothy Sherwood Eleanor Kimball and Judith Rose earned selection through two years of 4 H participation and demonstrations.
