Music Pupils To Give Concert Friday

The Mrs C M Brown and School Glee Club pupils directed by Mrs A Strite present National Music Week program. Guest artist James Wilson Ocala pianist will perform. Admission free. The program features piano solos duets vocal and band selections by the School Club and Boys of the Glee Club with the National Anthem.

Camporee Crowns Scout Patrols from Lake District

The Boy Scouts of the Lake District held their annual camporee in Eustis May 12 with twelve patrols competing to reach the Council Camporee at Camp Wewa. Troop 19 boasted three high scoring patrols led by Jack Dillard William Barker Jr and Paul Mosteller and Mount Dora ranked highly in the final merit standings.

Urges Floridians to avoid hoarding first aid supplies

Director James Landis appeals through George Burr to stop hoarding first aid kits and materials. Station Wagon Owners Organized for Lake County Unit

No Delays Here In Sugar Rationing In Mount Dora

Mount Dora and Sorrento registrars conducted sugar rationing registrations with minimal waits. On Monday 646 and on Tuesday 893 people registered, including 126 from Sorrento, all aided by 40 trained ladies. Ralph Battle could not attend due to his mother's illness, so two teachers completed the Saint George process from 12 to 3 pm. Lake County Rationing Board chair H. C. Brown praised Mount Dora as efficient, likely best in the state.

Observation Station Moved Down Town

Airplane spotters now work from a new observation station atop the bank building, in use since early this week. The elevated post offers unrestricted view, closer telephone access, and improved efficiency saving tires and gasoline.
