Growers Urged To Spray Groves For Six Spotted Mite
An advisory committee to the Florida Citrus Commission urges growers in Lake, Osceola and Polk counties to spray groves for the six spotted red spider and rust mite. The mites damage grapefruit and sometimes orange trees. control relies on thorough sulphur sprays reaching leaf undersides. Two gallons of lime sulfur solution per 100 gallons of water plus 5 to 10 pounds of wettable sulfur is recommended. If untreated, defoliation and fruit loss may occur between mid May.
