A joyous dedication Mass at St Patrick’s Catholic Church Mount Dora marked the completion of the new Old 441 facility. Bishop William D. Borders presided with Rev Felix Bates and former pastors. Cancer Fund drive in Mount Dora aims for $2800 goal
The 1973 American Cancer Fund Drive began in Mount Dora last Saturday and runs through May 13. Col. Molloy Vaughn chairs the effort with 16 area volunteers led by Mrs. Ellen Sanders. The goal increases from $2500 to $2800 with 45 percent of donations staying in Lake County. Volunteers will promote memorial gifts and remind the public to wear name tags to prevent impostors collecting funds.

Curfew Imposed on Mount Dora City Parks

City Council at a 90 minute session approved an $82 159 contract with Alfa Services for sewer plant work and the first reading of a zoning ordinance banning unlawful garage sales. Huskey Realty charged $9 145 for connecting Bunker Hill to Johns Avenue drainage and eminent domain actions were taken on unsafe premises. A $10 weekly maintenance fee for East Town Community Building was approved and May 15 was set for asphalt bids around City Hall and two tennis courts. Annexations in Sylvan Shores passed on second and third readings, Tremain Street and Clayton Street paving bids will follow, and Little League field lighting should wrap up this week. The summer recreation program is planned to start mid June with Benny Hinton returning as director.
