Evangelistic Services Set to Open at Mount Dora Church

A series of evangelistic services will begin May 27 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora. Pastor W. R. Lambert and local church members will prepare May 27 through June 3, then Dr. C. M. Mount Dora Backs Florida Exhibit Funds Drive

Mount Dora voters support the Florida Exhibit at the Chicago Worlds Fair with local funding efforts. Local American Legion Auxiliary Unit 35 Reports Active Year

Mount Dora unit 35 of the American Legion Auxiliary held a regular meeting at Mrs. C. J. Helms home. New initiates included Mrs. Fanny Spilky and Mrs. Delma Thayer as a class obligated. Poppy Day planned for May 26 with Miss Viva Craig chairing. A fundraising goal to send two delegates to the state convention set for Gainesville June 7. The unit has joined jelly making and aims for 100 glasses by October 1 for local distribution, reaching 104 percent with 25 members. Next meeting June 5 at Mrs. Howard Chamberlain’s Tangerine home.

State Declamation Contest Held Here

The statewide Declamation Contest under the state Woman's Missionary Union was held at the Baptist Church last Saturday with about two hundred attendees. Eleven contestants from YWAs GAes and RAs spoke on Stewardship, with winners Miss Fisher Punta Gorda YWA and Miss Moss Punta Gorda GA. A Lily Drill by Mount Dora G A and Sunbeam groups delighted the audience. Local WMU members served luncheon. Miss Kath leen Galloway played piano and Mr Tew Sanford conducted worship music.
