Mount Dora unit 35 of the American Legion Auxiliary held a regular meeting at Mrs. C. J. Helms home. New initiates included Mrs. Fanny Spilky and Mrs. Delma Thayer as a class obligated. Poppy Day planned for May 26 with Miss Viva Craig chairing. A fundraising goal to send two delegates to the state convention set for Gainesville June 7. The unit has joined jelly making and aims for 100 glasses by October 1 for local distribution, reaching 104 percent with 25 members. Next meeting June 5 at Mrs. Howard Chamberlain’s Tangerine home.

State Declamation Contest Held Here
The statewide Declamation Contest under the state Woman's Missionary Union was held at the Baptist Church last Saturday with about two hundred attendees.
