Interscholastic OneAct Play Festival Opens May 1
Lake County schools perform at Mount Dora Ice House Theatre in the inaugural festival. Eleven schools from nine communities present one act plays or condensations, judged by Bruce Griffiths Edmund Mills and Bill Dunnagan to award a silver Trophy Cup. Admission is 1.00 for adults 0.50 for students with a Sunday awards ceremony at 2 30 free admission.

Mount Dora hosts the American Power Boat Association Region Five Stock and Ally race May 17 and 18 as part of a Lake Dora event. Twenty two races unfold on a 1/4 mile course over two days with trophies for top three. testing allowed Saturday after registration.

Police say two dark skinned men forced entry in Mount Dora last week and took $20 from a purse before fleeing in a light blue car toward highway 441. Residents believe the duo entered the town at random and left state promptly. Children Name New City Park in Mount Dora Contest
The seventh grade at Milner Rosenwald proposes five names for the new Mount Dora park to be voted on by students from Milner Rosenwald Roseborough and the Christian Home and Bible School. Nominations include Highland Street Recreation Park Lott's Memorial Park King Central Park Mount Dora Central Park and Willie Mays Memorial Park. The winner will be announced next week and the park sits at Highland and Pine.
