Part of Lake Okeechobee Open for Bass Fishing

The State Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission granted limited bass fishing on part of Lake Okeechobee during the closed season. A 1925 state law sets lake boundaries between Glades and Palm Beach counties, while a 1939 Glades County law allows fishing in Glades during the closed period. Palm Beach County had claimed the whole lake, but the commission upheld Glades law. The boundary area covers five townships and contains much of the lake’s prime bass grounds.
