Fire Chief Griggs defends emergency aid stance in Mount Dora
Mount Dora Fire Chief Carroll Griggs refutes claims the department abandoned emergency aid to heart attack victims. He says the city must decide on responsibility with the council while police still handle some calls. Griggs warns of limited response if volunteers are away and notes a potential cost of 50,000 to 75,000 dollars to sustain EMS. Mayor Jeff Ray III urged dropping the service, but council referred the issue to committee.
