The Lakes and Hills Garden Club will meet Monday at the Community building to vote on a new officer slate and review the recent Lake County Fair flower show. Nominees include Mrs. Charles J. Brown for president and Mrs. Henry W. Land and Mrs. O. G. Calhoun for vice presidents, with other officers named.
Mrs. Margaret Doleman known as Mother to guests at the Sim hotel marks her 92nd birthday with a lobby jig. She credits her health to a childhood diet of starate Indian meals and molasses with little meat on a New Jersey farm, despite modern tastes she says.
The Women s Society of Christian Service will host A Day Apart next Tuesday at First Methodist Church. Mrs Ira N Kellogg presides. Beginning at 11 am members bring sandwiches for the noon luncheon as devotionals led by Mrs A R Kinsey. Afternoon business meeting and study of Women of Scripture follow.

Lake County Fair Flower Show judges praised the displays with Mrs. Richard Edgerton winning the sweepstakes in arrangement. Lakes and Hills club from Mount Dora led with top honors as multiple gardeners, including Mrs. Paul Johnson and Mrs. Della B. Douglass, earned blue ribbons and special awards. Judges noted strong entries from Umatilla and Leesburg as well, with many blue ribbons tallied for roses, miniatures, and one color arrangements.
The Pythian Sisters announce a food sale to be held Saturday morning at the Princess theatre. Proceeds will support their community activities and charitable funds.
Bill Barker Jr of the Barker family says The Divine Tragedy will begin filming in Europe after Easter with production by Roland Leigh. no actor or director credits will be released at release, and the script has approval from Protestant Catholic and Jewish faiths. Jon Barker with Pan American Airways notes a recent passenger was Charles Lindbergh.
Mount Dora’s Lake County flower show awarded blue ribbons to Alto Gary’s sixth grade for Jack and Jill and third to Robin Hood. Mrs Dan Spears’ fifth graders took second with Bunny and individual prizes went to Vici Johnson Venetian Garden Michael Ray Carlos Our Mexican Friend and Merrell Beebe Florida Bamboo Jeff Ray Secret Garden Margaret Sadler Mexican Scene.
The Worker's Conference of the Methodist church Sunday school will meet Monday evening for a covered-dish supper and business meeting at the Parish house. Rev. Robert M. Blackburn announces the conference comprises all teachers and officers of the church school. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Mount Dora's Art League presents Animated Magazine by the Creative Writers Friday at 2 p.m. in the Community building. Members will read original manuscripts including poems stories and essays and some also perform musical numbers. Isa belle Gassett chairs the group inviting all to attend as the league hosts a busy week including a picnic at Alta Monte Springs and a photograph exhibit at the Public Library.
Mrs. A. M. Garrison will serve as chairman of the Hibiscus Circle of the Lakes and Hills Garden club for the coming year. She was elected at the Circle's annual meeting last week. Assisting her are Mrs. W. D. McVey first vice chairman Mrs. Marion Brinker second vice chairman Mrs. Mabel Richards recording secretary Mrs. J. Eardley Wilmott corresponding secretary and Mrs. Mae Fenton treasurer. Thirty five members attended the meeting and discussed March garden care.
