Generous Response In Lake County To Polio Fund Appeal

Lake County residents contributed to the 1945 Infantile Paralysis Appeal and the local chapter retained half the funds for county use while sending the other half to the National Foundation for research. The note thanks donors and notes a polio patient received nursing support enabling potential full limb use. Donation balance listed as 2809.22 dollars.

Clothing Drive For War Victims By Kiwanis In Mount Dora

Kiwanis International sponsors a National Clothing Collection with the Mount Dora Kiwanis Club participating. Donations of usable clothing for men women and children will be distributed to war victims and refugees through the Red Cross. Mr and Mrs A S Wheeler formerly of Greensboro North Carolina and Bradenton Florida have moved to Mount Dora to operate the Wheeler Trading Company buying and selling. Wheeler has leased the former Smith Service Station at Donnelly and Fourth and plans to open early next month. They reside temporarily at the Hotel Mount Dora and seek a small home or apartment soon.

Boy Scouts Enable Paper Salvage Drive Details

In a corrected notice Scouts under Scoutmaster Groves and Cubmaster Merkle will collect waste paper on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Red Cross War Fund Drive Surpasses Six Thousand

As of March 20 1945 the Red Cross War Fund Drive total exceeded $6 000 with the Mount Dora-Sorrento Lake Jem district already over its $4 300 quota. Local groups including Mount Dora Growers Cooperative and Mount Dora Public School teachers reported 100 percent participation along with numerous individuals contributing from $10 or more.

Sylvan Shores Hotel Hosts Impromptu Musical Evening

At the Sylvan Shores Hotel an impromptu concert featured Donald Scott-Morrion impersonating composers with a harp keyboard program including Bach Scarletti Handel and Debussy.
