Island safeguards Lake Franklin area from flood threat
Mt. Dora Lions Club created an island in Lake Franklin last summer. In March 1960 heavy rains nearly inundated Ernest Hobdy’s home and Lake Franklin Road, with Noah Davis’s death noted in 1926. Winter floods raise lake level. dredging depth aided by eight feet may have prevented disaster.
