Regatta Set for April 8 9 in Mount Dora
The 19th annual Sail Boat Regatta is planned for April 8 9 at Lake Dora Mount Dora. Regatta chairman Lt Col E F Merchant expects 100 plus boats from Florida and beyond with 50 sailing clubs in the Florida Sailing Association to participate. Ten to twenty classes including Catamarans Thistles Windmills Sunfish and Prams will compete over two courses two heats Saturday and three races Sunday. This marks the 19th straight year records will be kept for the Mount Dora event.

Crash on New 441 kills 1 injures 2 in Mount Dora
Mount Dora reports its second traffic fatality in as many weeks after a head on collision on US 441 near E Crooked Lake Rd at 2 30 am Sunday March 5. Richard Bean 43 of Troy Alabama died at Waterman Memorial Hospital. Williams 19 of Plymouth Florida and passenger Willie Lee Perdue 17 injured.

Mount Dora poll shows mixed votes on condo and liquor license
Survey results from Mount Dora show 2-1 against Huskey Realty condominium and a 50 50 split on the Lamp Post liquor license. Of 248 voters on the license 119 favored and 129 opposed. 228 voted on the condominium with 76 in favor of rezoning and 152 against.
