The sixth and final talk in the Forum Series sponsored by the Methodist and Community churches will discuss China. The session will cover regional relations and cultural exchange with local audience participation.

Six Lake County clubs led by the Umatilla Club will contest the first of a series of winter tournaments in Mount Dora on March 14. Men’s singles feature prizes including a bronze statuette engraved for the winner. Other clubs from Clermont Leesburg Tavares and Umatilla join the event.
Friday evening March 14 at 7 30 o clock a program of motion pictures and music will be presented at the Community Building. The program includes sound pictures and a Technicolor feature about missionary work in Old Mexico. Musical numbers will be performed by a trio era accordion and eye H Olson and Mr and Mrs Phantley A Olson. the performers are regulars on WTCM 1490 k a.m. from 6 45 to 7 00 each weekday morning.
Mount Dora hosts a golf event featuring nine players in a brisk daytime round. The action centers on the AU day format with a stated entry cost of 1.50 dollars.
In an eventful day at Daytona rinks Mount Dora beat DeLand 75 to 66 after two teams split eight league matches. Skip Bill McLachlan led Mount Dora to third place with four wins four losses as details of the day and local observations from Susan Louise Babcock highlighted the strong turnout and chilly conditions.
President Bardwell abruptly handed control to Lionesses at Friday’s meeting. Officers were reassigned, fines levied, and motions mocked as attendees joked about voting limits and missing money. Garden Club of Mount Dora hosts a tea at 233 Third Avenue West near Lake Dora on Thursday March 13 from 2 30 to 5 00. Speaker Mr Seingle of Florida Nursery and Landscape Company Beehre discusses annuals perennials and garden shrubs care with questions invited.
February meeting notes show committee chairs preparing activity statements. Dick Edgerton led as program chair with color film presentations by H H Duyeinck featuring Maryland farm life and harvest gear. George Gibson led today’s program and arranged a talk by Francis Erreen of Pennington School for Boys on Dr Green’s message.
Forty eight Wolverines wintering in Mount Dora and Tangerine held a picnic in the Community Building social room. Nineteen came from Glacsim County as new homes were built between south Clayton and south Grand View streets by Michigan residents. Rev. Burk gave the blessing.
Robert Williams a World War I veteran from East Town is in critical condition at Eustis hospital after a Tuesday wreck on Highway 441 near Lake Ola. A sedan from a side road failed to stop, colliding with Williams's car which rolled several times, leaving him with a fractured skull. The other driver admitted fault and visited the hospital.
Local play time offers nine holes for 1.00 dollars and all day access for 1.50 dollars at Mount Dora golf facility. The offer highlights affordable rates for golfers seeking casual rounds.

Dr Francis Harvey Green brings his final sermon this week at the Methodist Church. Ross Dutton and Rev Gibson lead Morning Worship at 11 with the combined choirs and Mrs C M Brown at the piano. Mr Roberter conducts Evening Worship at 7 30 with Vesper and Chapel choirs. Dr Edwin Mims of Rollins College delivers the last youth group lecture at 6 on The Contribution of Literature to the Spiritual Life. Wednesday Lenten Service at 8 features Ross Dutton leading worship and a quartet. Gibson continues his ae series on Words from the Cross.
The Sunday morning sermon by Dr James Austin Richards centers on The Church of God. The Bible Class meets at 10 in the chapel led by Mr Bridgman. Next Sunday Mrs Leslie R Moore teaches the class with Lent themes on the four portraits of Christ. The Woman's Association meets Friday at 3 in the chapel with a reading by Mrs Isabella Taylor.
Regular services at the Church of Christ on Fifth Avenue include Bible study at 10:00 a m preaching and communion at 11:00 a m and evening service at 7:00 p m Men’s Bible study meets Tuesday at 7 p m and Thursday evening Bible study at 7 p m All visitors welcome.
Miss Patricia Bowers daughter of Bernard and Bernice Bow ers of Mount Dora Florida was among Brenau College Gainesville Georgia freshmen named to the Fall semester Dean's List. A total of 49 students made the list and will receive extra cuts in their classes. Bowers is a pledge of Alpha Gamma Delta and serves on the student newspaper staff.
The American Legion Auxiliary canceled the Poppy Day sale last Saturday due to cold rain. A makeup sale will be held on Saturday the 8th with auxiliary and Girl Scouts selling poppies to aid veterans.
Elmer Seifert of Monticello Indiana caught a 13 pound 10 ounce bass with line and bait at Lake Griffin on Saturday February 22 to lead the Leesburg Junior Chamber of Commerce bass fishing tournament. The catch is the largest bass recorded to date in the 1947 event.
Karl Lehmann elected president of Montverde School, replacing Dr. H. P. Carpenter who resigns after 35 years. Lehmann will serve while loaned by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce to aid administrative work and staff development, with reimbursement arranged. The school maintains its summer camp and practical training program.
Members missing the night program were treated to a substitute by Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Mueller who presented a water work documentary with Constance Mueller as projectionist. Wesley Mueller provided engaging running commentary and the audience praised the personal presentation. if possible, rebooking for next year may allow more to enjoy the program.
Youth Center members plan a musical variety show to entertain the community. The event promises to be engaging with a likely lineup though details remain unreleased.
