Rainstorm Triggers Fires Floods in Mount Dora
A heavy storm dumped 3.75 inches on Mount Dora causing basements to flood and electrical systems to fail. The Mount Dora Public Library suffered water damage to the lower floor and Children’s Library, while two nearby homes reported electrical fires from lightning. Damaged utilities included a Johns Avenue curb, water tank probes, and kitchen appliances with extensive circuitry damage.

Fresh man Congressman Bill Gunter has chosen Donald Christopher 21 of Mount Dora as his summer intern. Christopher previously worked for Senator Lawton Chiles and plans to finish Harvard and pursue Yale Law School. He will soon take a three week Colorado River camping trip after his internship.
