The Memorial Association unanimously approved the $5,000 fundraising plan at a Legion fish fry, with goals to resume construction by Sept. 1 and finish roof, windows, and flooring.

Homesteaders with homes valued under 5000 in Mount Dora will see a second tax reduction with a 5.5 millage for debt service, a drop of 1.5 from 1947. Operating expenses stay at 10 mills. A garbage disposal tax aided the decrease, and officials project possible elimination of millage by 1964 if debt falls. The budget sets 5700 monthly for general operations, water and power being self supporting, with net yearly operations at 49656, 21793 from the 10 mill levy.
