Blindness Excuse Fails as Juke Joint Fined

James Sylvester, owner of the race, and three others were arrested Saturday night for gambling in his juke joint. He claimed blindness to the wrongdoing but was entrusted to know the law, and Mayor W. D. Patton fined all involved $29 each with a warning that repeat offenses could revoke licenses.

Young thief eludes patrol in multi-spot car rifling chase

A ten year old boy rifled cars and fled from Patrolman Bill Ward through Baker and Fifth avenues, nearly colliding with traffic, then vanished near Donnelly Park. Police had prior complaints of car rifling and a valuable briefcase with papers was stolen from a parked auto outside Inez Thomas Hat Shop.

I'm Crazy chase ends with stolen car crash near Sylvan Shores

A 19-year-old from Ustis fled through Tavares Eustis and Mount Dora in a stolen car at high speed. Police halted him after a crash near Sylvan Shores where he said I'm crazy and claimed the car wouldn't go fast enough. He faces charges of driving a stolen car and evading arrest among others.

The hearing of a damage suit against the city is postponed as Circuit Judge Tru man G. Futch is ill and confined to Young hospital. Plaintiff Paul H. Johnson alleges damages from injuries to his truck when a Fifth avenue oak fell on his car two years ago. The incident narrowly avoided electrocution as live wires were brought down.
