By Elenor Sammons, Miss Phyllis Jane Kueffer of Eustis and Mr. J Michael Geddes of Sorrento were married at 7 p.m. Saturday June 11 at First Baptist Church Eustis with Rev Shook officiating. Bride and groom wore white and attendants light blue. A reception followed in the church Fellowship Hall.
Serrente Mike, a Mount Dora schools alum, attended Lake Sumter Community College and now enters his senior year at FTU in Orlando. He has taught at Forest City Elementary and earned Dean's list honors. Phyllis works at FTU. The couple plans a mountain trip then residence at Alafaya Trail Apartments, Orlando. Guests received a scroll memento with wedding rings.
Coach Willie J Poole writes to editors to dispute media claims that boosters ousted him over racial issues. He states the Booster Club had no role, cites a 8-2 and 7-5 seasons, notes player turnover, and insists team success comes from merit not color, praising his players and community support.
