FCA Reports Spring Financing Totals From Production Credit
Farm Credit Administration reports that Production Credit Associations organized last winter and active since April have handled about 44.5 million dollars in spring financing. Of this, 27.3 million went to borrowers and 17.2 million to loan accounts for staggered payments. Loans mainly funded crop production, with increasing livestock and general farming loans as the season progresses. The low cost of money, with interest rates down to 5 percent, enables many farmers to purchase work stock, equipment, and improvements, secured by first liens on livestock or equipment.
