Nature Provides Own Trap for Screw Worms
Dr. W. E. Dove explains in correspondence that screw worms develop in wounds like bottle mouths. In openings, cotton stoppers soaked in Benzol can suffocate and kill the larvae, creating a natural trap. Man-made fly traps miss true screw worm flies, so closing wounds with Benzol plugs offers an effective nontechnical control.
