Florida Telephone officials warn Mount Dora residents to watch for suspicious persons loitering around pay phones after a recent robbery. Charles Larson says 1 076 phones are maintained regularly but delayed discovery of tampering leads to outages and service curtailments. He urges reporting damage via the local repair service number.
Senator Askew the gubernatorial candidate plans a Lake County visit on Friday meeting Mount Dora town officials and residents. He will also tour Eustis Leesburg and Tavares meeting merchants and walking the streets as part of a daylong campaign circuit.
The 1970 Florida legislature approved higher boat registration fees to take effect July 15, with Randolph Hodges announcing increases for pleasure and commercial registrations. Non residents face a $50 extra commercial tax and a $25 fishing license, while standard rates are listed by boat length with a 50 cent surcharge.
