The Mount Dora Swim Club hosts its annual Invitational over Friday and Saturday sanctioned by the Florida Association of Amateur Athletic Union. About 20 District II AAU clubs will enter events for boys and girls across age groups 8 and under to 17.

Area Teen-Agers Hurt In Mishaps Leave Hospitals
Two Jacksonville area youths and several companions were hospitalized after separate incidents. Jimmy Dake Becky Wilson and Gail Oswald were passengers in a sports car that left the road in Arlington while Larry Kline drove. all injuries were non life threatening and they were released. Steve Wetherington suffered a fractured leg and cuts when his motorcycle was struck near Old Highway 441 and Highway 19 and has been discharged from Waterman Memorial Hospital.

Mount Dora Swim Club, about 70 members, led by Coach Randy Cox, aims for competitive growth. After the Mount Dora Invitational, the team travels to Eustis for a district qualifier to reach the state meet at Atlantic Beach August 5 to 7. A July 29 inter-team meet precedes a July 30 banquet. Clark Staton leads the club. The plan includes more small dual and tri meets this season and a possible August Georgia trip to host a return meet, hoping for an annual series as the swimmers improve.
