Bay Street Players stun with West Side Story at State Theatre
The Bay Street Players deliver a high energy home grown production of West Side Story at the State Theatre in Eustis. The youthful 30 member cast, guest choreographer Kip Watson, and a strong chorus thrill with dynamic performances from Edgie Riggins Maddie Baer and Mary Rose Gray. Director Dale Carpenter steers a vivid set by Bob Palmer while the pit orchestra under Dean Locke navigates Bernstein’s demanding score. A real switchblade knife scene and a cast injury mark the opening performances through July 10. the show draws strong praise despite minor timing slips.
