Fowler Escapes McCarthy Wrath By Rejecting Circus Role
Tampa attorney Cody Fowler, former president of the American Bar Association, avoided joining McCarthy’s controversial circus by declining a position as chief interrogator in the televised dispute. He cited ongoing Army civilian work and a wish to shield himself from pro McCarthy critics, noting younger lawyers can gain seniority for influence. Fowler’s jury trial performance in the Mundt case drew praise from colleagues as he awaited verdict, then phoned his wife Cody to share the moment.
