Fires hit East Town at two alarms in three hours
Mount Dora Fire Department responded to two East Town fires last Wednesday. The first, at 11 40 a m on 321 Jackson Street, destroyed an entire cinderblock home belonging to Alberry Johnson though firefighters contained it in 15 minutes. No one was home with five children. The second fire at 2 32 p m in Oakwood Apartments on Lincoln Avenue started in a bedroom closet in Irma Lockett leased unit with heavy smoke damage and unknown cause.

Beginning February 4 a Lake County Tax Assessor representative will visit towns to assist residents with homestead and widow and disability exemption applications and tangible personal property tax returns for 1974. Intangible returns are not handled. Forms available from the Department of Revenue in Tallahassee. Filing deadline April 1. receipts prove filing.
