Akron residents and friends flock to Mount Dora this season for winter visits and new homesteads. Notables include Henry and Pearl Adams, Col. Paul Bronson, and Col. Gersoni, with arrivals from Brecksville and Stamford joining local social clubs and garden shows.
Mrs. Augusta G. Masson of Bayside New York announces the marriage of her daughter Mrs. Henrietta G. Maguire to William J. Hein of Flushing New York. The couple wed January 7 at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, with a reception at the Sanford hotel. They now reside at 1150 Palmetto Avenue Sylvan Shores Mount Dora. Attendant was Mrs. Belle Burcham of Alexandria Virginia and best man Charles Philipbar of Pleasant Valley New York. Bride was given in marriage by her brother Captain Henry N. Masson of Bayside.

A family oriented fashion affair appears at the Community building this Thursday as the Business and Professional Women's club hosts a stylish event. Thirty three models from Sanford Eustis Tavares Mount Dora and surrounding areas present clothes hats and jewels from six local shops with Celia Claflin Shaw handling commentary and Al Rehbaum Jr providing music. The stage will be decorated by the Mount Dora Flower Shop and tickets are available at the door or from club members.
The University Singers of Florida State University will perform in Mount Dora on Friday February 6 at the Community building as part of a state wide tour. Directed by Wiley L Housewright the group will present classics and modern tunes. Tickets go on sale January 22 at local outlets. Kiwanis sponsors the event and teams of 20 members each will handle housing and ticket sales.
The Lake County Flower Show School will be held at the Lake Theatre in Tavares on February 4 5 and 6 with national authority Mrs Henry Kistner leading lectures on flower arrangements Tickets for the full course or individual lectures go on sale at the Lakes and Hills Garden Club meeting at the Community Building Mrs Herbert Soper of Tavares is general chairman Calla vs Talmadge E will speak on horticulture and the event opens February 4 at 9 a.m.
Lakes and Hills Garden club hosts a Friday program at 2 p.m. in the Community building where eight members demonstrate flower arranging on an assembly line using identical flowers and materials. Each participant will spend 20 minutes perfecting a ground up arrangement as preparation for the Lake County Flower Show in March.

Bettye Ann Ray, a Mount Dora college student, will perform in the Depart ment of Speech at Florida State University production of Taming of the Shrew at Conradi Theatre. The show opens Friday and runs through Tuesday except Sunday. Her mother Mrs J G Ray Jr plans to attend.
Dora garden club members invited to a short course at the University of Florida on February 2 3 4. Lecturers include Prof R O Monosmith from Mississippi State College on landscape design and Mrs W Harrell Wilson from Greenville South Carolina on flower arrangements.
