City Council Approves Re-Surfacing Of Ten Mount Dora Streets
Mount Dora City Council approved a paving plan for ten streets and avenues with Lindsley Paving Co. awarded the $14,178 contract. City engineer A. E. O Neall said costs could drop with lower sub-surface leveling, and several streets including 6th to 9th Avenues and Lakeshore Drive were named for resurfacing. A petition for 10th Avenue paving was postponed to align Highland Avenue work.

Weapons Safety Emphasized At Pistol Petticoats Meet
The Pistol Petticoats hold their first Mount Dora session Sunday January 8 at 1 30 PM at the Junior Rifle Range East ith Street near the Ice House Theatre. Police Chief Bud Huett notes 42 women are registered and will receive instruction from sharpshooters from the police and American Legion Post 35. Leighton Baker of Petersons Gun Shop and Police Richard Martin will teach safety and proper handling of firearms. The program aims to educate women age 18 and older on gun use.

Two Die In Area Two Car Collision
Two persons died in a two car crash on US 441 between Eustis and Mount Dora. Willie Lee Edwards age 50 and Lena F Wright age 74, both of Eustis, perished when Mrs Edwards car exited Donnelly Street into the path of a vehicle driven by Ann A Conway age 38 of Tavares. Others were injured including Ada Williams 64 Ann Conway Eddie L Berry Birmingham Lillian and Donald E Berry. one child Wanda Berry escaped injury.
