Government terminates rural aid in Lake County
The U S Department of Agriculture ends funding for the Rural Environmental Assistance Program. In 1972 Lake County filed over 500 cost share requests totaling more than 364000 dollars, with less than 130000 available. ASCS will not accept new requests and a 65700 dollar allocation for 1973 has been voided. Local officials express disappointment at the abrupt cancellation.

In its final meeting before reorganization, Mount Dora City Council approved a final plat for the Sherwood Subdivision, discussed upgrades to the sewage system, and addressed concerns about the Golden Triangle parking lot and the unlighted radio tower on Old Eustis Road. A $9,881.13 gift from Roxanne Beardsley for library construction was announced, to be placed in a library construction trust fund.
