Mount Dora Legion Post 35 Elects Vincent to Lead Athletics

Legion Post 35 in Mount Dora names William Vincent, former athletic director and Navy Lt. Commander, to direct all athletic activities and consider a local school Field Day. Vincent, recent Navy retiree and former navigation tea aboard a transport unit, will oversee Mount Dora athletics. New members join Post 35 in February, including Milton B. Allen and Donald Vance among others, as veterans of World War II bolster the group.

State Basketball Tourney Class C To Be Held Here

Mount Dora hosts the Florida High School Athletic Association state basketball tournament for Class C March 7 to 9. Exhibition Ball Game At Heim Park Sunday

An exhibition baseball game is set for Sunday at Heim Park at 3 30 PM pitting oldsters led by Dudley Adkins against a youth team managed by Howard Simpson. Umpire Homer Morris is expected to officiate with possible catcher Gramp Eckholdt and players Dudley pitch Pike first Ray second Hale short Cooley third Simpson right Brotherson center, a left fielder to be announced. The youngsters will be the year’s hopefuls. Admission is free though donations are welcome.

Mount Dora's Chamber of Commerce reports a 200 member count in a drive toward 500 for 1946 as plans for a Memorial Legion Hall advance. Four men aboard the 28 ft Wy Not faced weeks of water hyacinth in the Apopka Canal.
