The Drum Beat discusses rain as a metaphor for life and growth, urging a positive outlook and personal gain from distress. It notes Mount Dora youths leaving town, upcoming basketball tournaments, missing street signs, and plea for piano tunings in civic spaces.
General Albert H. Blanding will review the Lake County Guard as they march to the Fair Grounds at Eustis at 7 30 Tuesday evening March 11. General Vivian Collins Adjutant General of Florida is expected to participate. They will dine with Lt Col Thomas H Cooley and the Lake County Fair Association at six oclock prior to the review. A short line of march will form from Citrus and Bay in front of M Igon Co. A reviewing stand will be erected on Bay Street.
A 12 by eight foot electrically operated maporama shows Lake County towns highways service clubs chambers of commerce and 4 H clubs. Walter Patton of Mount Dora designed it. It travels to Orlando February 24 to March 1 and to Eustis March 10 to 15 with Lake County Chamber representatives present to explain and answer questions.

Lake County with 28 000 residents has received 848 515.54 in WPA funds, matched to total 1 135 271.49. Projects include Groveland auditorium Eustis high school county health clinic at Tavares and county wide sanitation and mosquito control efforts along with road work. Polk Orange and Volusia exceed Lake County in total WPA funds.

J. W. Hunter of Tavares was chosen treasurer of the Association of Prosecuting Officers of Florida at a Tallahassee meeting called by Attorney General J. Tom Watson. The gathering aimed to boost state wide cooperation in law enforcement and discussed technical needs in future laws.
Led by Col. C Harold Hippler of Eustis the Lake County drive raised 358.48 for the infantile paralysis fund on the president birthday celebration. Eustis under Mrs W D McVey gave 103.23. Tavares Howey district led by Mrs Lucille Tally and R E Norris contributed 79.87 toward a 50 quota.
