Senior Class of MDHS runs a magazine subscription drive aiming for a 3500 goal, with Curtis Publishing Company providing 30 to 50 percent profits on various magazines. Meanwhile Mount Dora Future Homemakers of America held their Second Annual Miss F H A contest with Pat Vason crowned 1961 Miss F H A of Mount Dora and Ann Hammond of Clermont winning the Lake County title after a Valentine Dance in Tavares. The MDHS Science Club hosted a successful Sadie Hawkins dance raising about 25 dollars, with community events at the Hurricane Hut and First Methodist Church featuring Lt. Cmdr. Jack Langford of the Sanford Naval Air Base addressing attendees.
