Poor Grading and Packing Causes Big Loss to Growers
Florida fruit and vegetable growers lose millions annually due to indifferent grading and careless packing. M. R. Ensign of the Florida Experiment Station urges against inferior grades amid stiff competition and cites bulge packs causing 40 percent of overstuffed packages to arrive broken. He advocates sturdy wire bound crates in 1, 2, and 3 bushel sizes and notes loose car loads also create losses.
