The seventh annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Mount Dora Jaycees stages Saturday at 2 PM from Donnelly Street to Gilbert Park. More than 80 units, 10 bands, 20 floats and Santa Claus lead the procession through downtown with extensive local sponsorship and a post-parade dance at Thornbury Gerwig School of Dance.

Glaucoma Clinic Detects One Case During Community Poll

A glaucoma clinic at the Community Building sponsored by Mount Dora Lions Club found one confirmed case and one suspected case among 135 attendees who came after voting. Four-Vote Margin Determines City Council Seats

Gordon Dake led with 490 votes, followed by Charles Javens at 432 and incumbent J. P. Turner at 338. Tommy Houser fell 4 votes short of Turner with 334 in the unofficial count of 777 ballots, amid a 44 percent turnout. A recount request was possible within 10 days, but Houser was inclined to accept the result.

Santa Visits Triangle Center Friday Evening

Santa Claus arrives by Mount Dora Fire Department engine for a gala pre-holiday event at the Golden Triangle Shopping Center at 6 p.m. Merchants award red tag prizes during the celebration.
