Lake County Growers Report Strong Unified Marketing
Two Lake County grower associations allied with the Florida Citrus Exchange show rising tonnage and high market shares under the Federal Farm Board program. Clermont’s group has 80 percent of this season’s production and expects 75 000 to 80 000 boxes. Groveland, about 30 000 boxes, will ship more than last year. New members bring 22 groves on 158 acres producing over 7 000 boxes. Lakeland, Carpenters and Joiners Union acreage adds 500 more acres. Elfers in Pinellas keeps last year’s turnover with added members. Elfers will sustain volume despite a short crop.

The Orlando Broadcasting Co has been granted by the Federal Radio Commission full time broadcasting on WDBO Orlando beginning Nov 25 from 11 a m to midnight daily. The station will dedicate a Mt Dora program and invites audience input and possible staff participation. Local tourism and sports information will be offered through the new studio at Fort Gatlin Hotel, with volunteers assisting in events, dances, and other entertainment features.
