Building Permits Reach Over Fifty Thousand in Mount Dora

Mount Dora reports a November building boom with permits totaling 51025, the highest for the year aside from March. Most permits cover homes, including two in the 7000 class, five for veterans' homes by Chet Conelly, and large houses by H E Bigelow and Gordon L Dake in Pine Crest and Eighthay.

Prince Ill But Children Still Give Good Marionette Show

Sixth and seventh grade pupils staged a marionette show sponsored by the Mount Dora Art League at the Community building. When the prince fell ill understudy Ernest Mee Ree filled in for The Prince Without a Tongue while Betty Key and others performed Princess Estra dinenna and the witch. Edith Fairfax Davenport directed with John Rappel, Wilma Smith, Martha Lane, Rosemary Huff and others participating. Donnelly Park will host an all day outdoor exhibit December 15 as the league closes plans.

Tremain Donnelly but No LaDue St Mount Dora

George LaDue, an early Mount Dora resident and businessman, loses the public status of LaDue Street. At a council session, J M Turner announced Willard Wadsworth’s request to shut LaDue Street off from public use due to speeding jalopies. Ira Franklin Sarver 71 former Plymouth grove owner died at his home 621 Fifth av after a lingering illness on Thanksgiving eve. He lived in Mount Dora 13 years, was born in Ohio, spent most of life in Kansas, and was a Community church member. He leaves widow Maude Sarver. Funeral services were held Friday at Rehbaum Funeral chapel with Dr Arthur Peabody Pratt officiating.

Mount Dora winter visitors learned of the death of Leo Schmidt age 76, a regular guest of the Hotel Mount Dora in Buffalo, on Monday. He leaves his widow Kathryn Schmidt and his nephew Melvin Suttner, who with his wife had been guests here for several seasons.
