Standard Oil of Kentucky president W E Smith announces Essolube, a hydrofined motor oil made by a new refining process that won the 1931 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The oil is marketed by all Standard dealers and service stations and will replace the former Stand oil at no extra cost to motorists. The process uses hydrogenation, high heat and pressure to refine oil into several cuts with improved stability after exhaustive automotive testing.
