A Lake County missionary project collects old Christmas cards for use in missions, schools, and hospitals. Children in Ethiopia respond to nativity scenes while flowers on cards remain unfamiliar. thousands of cards have been distributed to Negro and rural schools in Mississippi Kentucky and Alabama. Cards are sent to Mrs. Miller at Tavares for the effort organized by the Verde Union Missionary Society.

World War era campus church figure recalls service and growth
Mrs. Bi Paca once led campus religion efforts at the University of Illinois and at the University of Florida. She later moved to Florida in 1938 and then Mount Dora, working with the Wesley Foundation and teaching college students through discussion groups. Her 1945 trip to Gainesville rekindled ties to campus church life and a nationwide Methdist student program.

Mrs Hubbard Dies in New York Age 79
Mrs Nell Hubbard widow of 79 died August 9 in Long Island New York following the death of her sister Ethylyn Zell. She had lived with Mrs Zell on 11th avenue for years and is survived by two sons Frank L. Hubbard Northport NY and Robert L. Hubbard Greenvale NY, four sisters and a brother.
Survivor of Korean Mine Rescued Soldier Returns Home
Sgt Major Joseph C Reeves Asta tula survived a mine blast after his jeep rolled down a mountain in Korea He served nearly a year with the 7th Cavalry Division was wounded twice and spent eight weeks in a Japanese hospital He is due to arrive in San Francisco aboard the Gen Freeman on August 28 or shortly after.
