A violent thunderstorm tore through Mount Dora Tuesday afternoon knocking down trees and cables. Wind gusts reached 50 to 60 mph with torrential rain causing downtown flooding and power outages lasting about two hours. City crews, volunteers, and utility workers cleared streets and restored services as cars and a home were damaged by fallen trees and a lightning strike hit a Tremain Street house.
