The town authorized the treasurer to call for redemption on October 1, 1937, retiring bonds and ceasing interest after that date. He will also cover the Argentine or white fringed weevil now harming corn, peanuts and other crops in North Florida and Southern Alabama. Mr and Mrs William A Brower and their four daughters have rented the Ferson house on Ninth Avenue through L A Tremain real estate office. Brower is a retired army officer who lately lived in northern Michigan. The family plans Mount Dora school attendance and previously spent winters in Florida. White Ibis fly in formation over the skydome at the Florida Naturama in Cleveland.
L. J. Drawdy Jr escaped serious injury when his car ran off the road and struck a telephone pole support at Sylvan Shores. He had fallen asleep while driving from Kentucky and was eight blocks from home on Donnelly avenue. He sustained only a knee injury and was unhurt otherwise.
Florida's old age assistance plan does not guarantee $30 per month. Payments depend on individual budgets and needs, and the state expects to fund more adequate aid as federal matching increases. Chairman Clyde Taylor noted most eligible residents will receive varied amounts, not a flat pension.

The King's Daughters announce a food sale on Saturday August 14 with home cooked foods and a coin box for donations. Proceeds support an emergency operation for a man with a wife and several children who cannot fully support them. The sale opens at 9 a.m. at 418 Donnelly Avenue.
Governor Fred P. Cone will attend Governor's Day events at the Great Lakes Exposition in Cleveland on August 22 to celebrate Florida Week. A motorcade will greet the party, with a 19 gun salute at the gates and remarks by Mayor Harold H. Burton at Florida Manor. The luncheon with Ohio's Davenport and Pennsylvania's Earle officials is set, and Florida Exhibits will be dedicated in the afternoon with Dudley S. Blossom presiding.
T Holmes Lashar led a contingent of out-of-state visitors to Lynne Conn gallery for its thirty sixth annual exhibition of oil paintings miniatures and sculpture. Florida artists Winsfield Scott Clime Charles Vezin and Margaret Cooper are among those exhibiting Florida motifs at the show.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce board of directors will meet at 3 p m Friday the 13th at the Court House office in Tavares. Col C E Lester urges full attendance. The meeting will finalize plans for the County Chamber annual meeting at Lakeside Park Clermont Minneola.

Renovations include athletic facilities, industrial arts, a full-time librarian, updated laboratories, new equipment, sidewalks, grassed areas, and a planned expansion with a gymnasium as part of a growing district system.

Florida Grape Growers Association president E L Lord credits stabilized prices through food chains for strong demand, better packaging, and new consumers across the state. He notes good maturity and a promising outlook as marketing issues near solution for producers and consumers.
Employees at the local Piggly Wiggly compete with Winn & Lovett markets for four boat trips to New York City based on sales and store standards. The winning store manager receives trips for two, the cashier and market manager each win one trip, with other staff earning cash prizes. Johnnie W. Rice manages the local store and Dewey N. Heptinstall runs the meat department.
Dr and Mrs Gerald A Richardson with their secretary Miss We Mae Sanders and children Geral dine and Calvin returned Sunday from a vacation trip to New York.
Dr. H T Fenn and wife and daughters Martha and June left Monday for Richland Georgia where the doctor will visit his ninety seven year old mother Mrs M E Fenn who is seriously ill.
