AAA Pushes Realistic Speed Limits Across Florida Towns
The Peninsula Motor Club, with State Road Dept backing, seeks realistic speed limits in Florida cities. In Clewiston, Lake Alfred, Polk City, Dundee and on the Hathaway Bridge in Panama City limits were raised, while the department studies more areas. Dist. Engineer H M Johnson warns against both rigid and non-rigid enforcement, arguing neither extreme improves safety and could fuel higher fines and worse driving attitudes. Clewiston officials supported the study and approved higher speeds locally.
