Three suspects entered the Mount Dora Post Office through a back passageway and tried to open a safe and two other safes. The operation caused door damage but no cash loss beyond the first safe worth 1045 dollars. Investigators note other local post office robberies but seek links.
Included in the count were Mount Dora Police Chief Bud Huett and Lake County Sheriff Willis McCall. Police officials have attended almost all of the Black Rights meetings.

Physical examinations for Mount Dora High School football players are set for August 13 at 3 p.m. in the high school gym. Equipment issues occur August 14 and 15, and practice begins August 18 at 9 a.m.
Mount Dora mayor Jesse Willmott suggests a legal back door to annex more property in the Sylvan Shores subdivision by using city utility easements as grounds for extension. He cites Heim Road easement rights and notes owner permission is still required. City Attorney Roy Christopher will review the legal aspects and report at the next meeting.
