Move to Create Juvenile Judge Position Thwarted by Citizens
Lake county officials debated funding a separate juvenile court as Leesburg leaders urged broader juvenile services. The board considered a plan to appoint a county-wide study committee, justify a judge salary around 10 000 dollars, and address jail conditions for juveniles while weighing prevention over punishment. Homeroom discussion highlighted tax concerns and the need for a mental health facility separate from adult inmates, with Judge Hall offering to waive his salary to aid juvenile reform.
