Government Predicts High Incomes for 1949
The Bureau of Agricultural Economics says personal incomes this year rose to a record high and should stay strong in 1949 with a possible small decline later. It also foresees a continued employment boom. The Federal Reserve board reports farming buying power now exceeds prewar levels by more than double, noting a 10 percent drop in farm workers since 1947 while nonfarm population has risen about 20 percent since 1937.
